Delete your account
How to delete your Forkless account, what gets removed, what we're required to keep, and how to ask us to do it if you can't sign in.
You can delete your Forkless account yourself, from inside Forkless. It takes about thirty seconds and nobody has to approve it.
Deleting is permanent. There’s no recovery window and no undo — the account is closed the moment you confirm it, and you can’t sign back in or get any of it restored.
Delete it yourself
Section titled “Delete it yourself”- Sign in at forkless.app.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Scroll to Danger zone and choose Delete account.
- Type
DELETEto confirm. If you sign in with a password, enter that password too. If you only ever signed in with Google or Apple, the typed confirmation is all you need. - Choose Delete account. You’re signed out immediately.
What gets deleted
Section titled “What gets deleted”- Your account and login — the email address, name, and password on the account. A few records outside it keep a copy of your address; see What we keep.
- Your profile — household size, intolerances, dietary preferences, calorie and macro goals, grocery budget, cooking skill, appliances.
- Your recipes — everything you created, imported, or scanned in.
- Your meal plans — every plan, past and upcoming.
- Your pantry — staples, what you’d marked as already having, and the recipes you’d hidden.
- Your Kroger connection — the Kroger credentials we were holding are deleted, so Forkless can no longer reach your Kroger cart. Walmart works differently: we hand you off to Walmart with a prefilled cart and never hold a Walmart credential, so there’s nothing on our side to delete.
- Your email contact record — we ask our email provider to delete it. That request is the last thing we do before your account goes, and it isn’t allowed to hold the deletion up: if the provider is down, the account is still deleted and the contact record can survive. So if anything from us turns up afterwards, use the unsubscribe link in it or email [email protected] and we’ll clear it by hand.
If you have an active subscription, we cancel it first, before anything is deleted. If the cancellation doesn’t go through, the deletion stops and nothing is removed — we’d rather leave the account standing than delete one that’s still being billed.
What we keep
Section titled “What we keep”Deleting closes the account, but a few things sit outside it:
- Billing and tax records, if you ever paid for Forkless. We’re required to keep invoices. The subscription itself is cancelled.
- Backups, until they roll off on their normal schedule.
- Product analytics — the record of how the account used Forkless. It isn’t removed by the deletion.
- Photos you uploaded — images attached to recipes you scanned or imported sit in our image storage, which the deletion doesn’t reach.
- A record that the deletion happened — the date, whether the email provider confirmed the removal, and what happened to any subscription. It identifies you by a one-way hash of your address, not the address itself, and it exists so we can show a deletion was carried out.
- A few records that keep your email address. None of them are attached to
your account any more, and none hold your recipes, plans, or anything else
you saved. You’ll only have some of them:
- the log of password-reset requests for your address, with the IP address each came from and when. It’s what stops someone hammering the reset form, so it has to outlive the account;
- what our email provider told us about deliveries to your address — the outcome and when it reached us;
- your waitlist entry, if you joined the waitlist before signing up. That one also keeps the name you gave and where the signup came from;
- your invite, if someone invited you to Forkless;
- the admin action log, if you were a Forkless admin. It records the address you acted under alongside what you changed.
This page is the specific list for account deletion; the Privacy Policy at /privacy covers our data handling in general. If there’s something here you want gone, email [email protected] and we’ll take care of it by hand.
Before you delete
Section titled “Before you delete”- Take your recipes with you. Deleting removes recipes you created and imported. If you want them, copy them out first.
- Deleting doesn’t touch your Kroger or Walmart account. For Kroger, it removes the credentials Forkless was holding, so we can’t reach your cart — but the permission itself is something you granted Kroger, and it stays listed in your Kroger account until you remove it under their connected-apps settings. Walmart was only ever a handoff link, so there’s no connection between the two accounts to undo. Anything already sitting in a retailer cart stays there, and orders you’ve already placed are between you and the retailer.
If you can’t sign in
Section titled “If you can’t sign in”Email [email protected] from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We’ll verify that it’s you and delete the account for you.
Changing your mind first
Section titled “Changing your mind first”Deleting is the biggest hammer in the drawer. Smaller options, if one of them is what you actually want:
- Stop the emails — Settings → Notifications.
- Disconnect a retailer — Settings → Connections.
- Cancel a subscription without deleting — Settings → Account → Current plan → Manage.
